Brian Harvey wrote a very good paper on the advantage of using Logo or
Scheme to teach general programming, called *Symbolic Programming vs. the
A.P. Curriculum*. In a similar vein, Natasha Chen wrote *High School
Computing: The Inside Story*, published in "The Computing Teacher," May
'92. The main thrust of both is that Logo and Scheme are the easiest
languages in which to learn the *ideas and methods* of computer science,
and that once the ideas are learned any computer language is easy to pick
up.
