COMMUNITY GROUPS AND SPECIAL POPULATIONS OF WARRANDYTE.

Warrandyte is a special community 30 km. north east of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. There are a variety of community groups in the local area. The Aboriginals from the Wurundjeri tribe came to Warrandyte many hundreds of years ago and named Warrandyte. "Warran" means to throw and "dyte" means a target. Gold was first found in Warrandyte in 1851, attracting a special group of people called "Diggers." The history of Warrandyte has had an effect on many local community groups today and tourists who visit this unique community.
